Marianna is a consultant on ethical, legal, social, and policy issues related to human specimen research and Associate Editor for Biopreservation and Biobanking. She managed biobanks for more than 15 years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Veterans Affairs. In the NIH Office of the Director, she played a major role developing national and international policies related to biobanking and clinical research. She was president of the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) in 2007. She chairs the ISBER Science Policy Committee and is a member of the ISBER ISO TC 276 Taskforce.
